Anglicans Warn Against Gay Marriage
0
Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most
Reverend Nicholas Okoh, Sunday called on Nigerians especially Church of
Nigeria, Anglican Communion not to embrace the culture of gay marriage
now rampant in Europe.
Speaking during the consecration service of Very Reverend Simon
Borokini, Venerable Geoffery Okoroafor and Venerable James Odedeji as
Bishops of Akure, Egbu and Lagos West respectively, at the Cathedral of
St. Jude, Ebute Metta, Lagos, Okoh described homosexuality, lesbianism
and gay marriage as great evils that must neither be condoned nor
allowed to exist in Nigerian society.
Okoh said: "There are lots of immoralities going on in the world and we do not want our Bishops or our members to be involved in any act of immoralities. I am calling on our clergies not to allow any influence from any quarter to corrupt the church of Christ.
"The basic of Jesus Christ will continue to be our teachings and we will not depart from it. Practicing homosexual would not be of any help for the nation and the Church of God at large. The basic of Christian marriage is between man and woman and not between man and man or other way round."
