Blessing Saturday- Akwa Ibom State

The Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Anietie Ukpe spared some time off his busy schedule with entertainment reporters in Akwa Ibom state where and when he bares his mind on issues relating to the multibillion naira entertainment industry. The statement was inspired by the chat with Nelson NseAbasi of E-101 Magazine, Niger Delta’s number one entertainment and celebrity news magazine which awarded his boss, Governor Godswill Akpabio (CON) Entertainment Man of the Year 2012.

Pastor Anietie Ukpe disclosed that he was forced to watch the few Nigerian movies he has seen, and for personal reasons, he is not a fan of the Nigerian Movie Industry, otherwise known as Nollywood, ‘you can never see soliloquy in an American movie, but it is common in Nigerian movies, and this is because they lack creative imagination. In movies, the story line is paramount, which is why movies like ‘The Champ’ and ‘TITANIC’ remain evergreen’ he stressed.
‘I am yet to see a movie on ‘June 12’, there is no compelling film on the life and times of General Sani Abacha, all of that are history Nollywood should try to tell. Personally, I am also working on a novel which will also be converted into a film’.
On suggestions as to how to move the movie industry forward, Pastor Ukpe opined that script writers should receive commensurate pay for their talents and skills, script writers should be appreciated the more in movie production, as the story line is vital, so therefore they should receive extra attention, instead of the actors carting away all the money.
On entertainment industry in Akwa Ibom, Pastor Ukpe commended the E-101 team for their efforts; the quality of content and print materials used to print the magazine and assured them of his support in the quest of good image and brand propagation for His Excellency Governor Godswill Akapbio (CON), and for Akwa Ibom state as a whole.
